diigo, blogging, and teachertube

 To be completely honest, I was having a bit of a hard time with Diigo so I don't really have much to say. 

I absolutely love blogging. I have a lot of fun writing these post and even reading the posts of my peers. Getting to be creative and free to type my experience and how I feel about certain things is a really nice outlet, and I really do enjoy posting. Reading my classmates' posts also lets me see how they are feeling and shares their experiences with me which I think is pretty cool.

TeacherTube is a really cool website that is sort of like YouTube, but its for teachers, educators, and students. Its sort of formatted the same way that YouTube is, but the content is more educational and useful in the classroom. There are thousands of videos to look through and pick from. twitter, the digital divide, and how i'd use certain academic software

 I made my first twitter account when I was 15. I spent most of my time trying to interact with celebrities I idolized, my friends and classmates, and even people who shared common interests with me that I met online. I think Twitter could help me in my career because it would keep me up to date on things happening, I could stay up to date on things that might be relevant to my students. I could even use twitter in a more playful way by incorporating memes and jokes within our class activities. 

The digital divide is an ongoing issue within America, and even the world. Between poverty, culture, and even geographical placement, the digital divide is a real issue. Certain student/people don't have access to the same forms of technology and therefore don't have the same opportunity, School have been trying to minimize this divide by providing computers on campus, but with lower income schools, they cannot afford such a luxury.

When I become a teacher, I would really like to use class dojo so that the students can see their progression in class in real time. They will be able to have that sense of reward, and and will inspire them to continue to progress. I also love the idea of using Kahoot. If certain students didn't have a phone/computer to partake, I would simple par the student up in groups so that they could all collaborate.

computer safety, CPALMS, and why researching effectively is important

I decided to pick the "Body of Knowledge" first standard which is "responsible use of technology and information." I am fully prepared to ensure that my students know and understand what the things said online, and in media in general, can be both very useful as well as hurtful. The things people say and do online has the potential to follow them well into their adult lives. I have no issue making sure my students understand the fact that they need to be responsible about what they say and what information they are using as sources. I would also ensure that my students understand that safety is the most important thing, and that they can download software that will protect them and their computers.

CPALMS educator tool kit provides lots of tools and resources for educators to use within their classrooms. To further dive in, I picked the grade range of 9-12th grade and selected language arts. Within the language arts tab, there were tools such as lessons plans to follow with examples of how to implement them in the classroom. For example, teaching the students different narrative techniques by building tension and suspense.

Being a proficient researcher is an important skill for teacher's to know. By being a great researcher, you can provide your students with the best sources to aid them on assignments and tests. You can also ensure that you're giving your students the most recent/reliable information as possible. You could also teach them how become better researchers for themselves by bestowing some research wisdom on them.
